Map (Mount) Drive from Mac

1. If you are not on the UTA domain establish a VPN connection (off campus) or connect via encrypted wireless (on campus)

2. Click on Go (top of the screen), scroll down, and select Connect to Server.

3. In the Server Address text field, enter smb:// followed by the name of the server and folder to which you wish to connect. You can also click on the browse button if you are unsure of the remote computer's name.

   • smb://quartz/ne/NetID
     This would be the format for student J: drives where, where ne are the first two letters of your NetID, and NetID is your actual NetID. For example, smb://quartz/ab/abc1234

   • smb://server/n/NetID
     This would be the format for faculty or staff J: drives where server could be opal, sweeper, or talisman, n is the first letter of your  NetID, and NetID is your actual NetID. For example, smb://sweeper/j/jones. If you are not sure on which server your folder is located, look it up here.

   • smb://server/dept
     This would be the format for departmental shared folders (K: drive) where server could be opal, sweeper, or talisman and dept is the departmental abbreviation.  For example, smb://sweeper/acs. If you are not sure on which server your folder is located, look it up here.

   • smb://students
     This would be the server name for student web folders.

   • smb://iridium/classes
     This would be the format to map to shared class folders.

4. Enter your NetID and password.  You may have to type uta\ in front of your NetID.

5. The newly connected server should appear in your Finder window, and you may navigate it as you would a local hard drive.
