UNIX / Linux - Omega and Gamma Servers

UT Arlington Omega server runs on a Linux server while Gamma server runs on a UNIX server. Omega is typically used for computer programming and Oracle applications.  Check out  http://omega.uta.edu/  for more information on what applications are housed on Omega.  Gamma on the other hand is frequently used to access to engineering applications. If you think you need either of these account, fill out the online Unix/Linux account request form. You'll need to logon to that page using your NetID. If you a faculty/staff member you can also request an account for the entire class using Class Account Request form.

Select Applications if:

  • You need information on Oracle, Mathematica, etc.

Select Editors if:

  • You need information about Pico or the vi editor on UNIX

Select X-Windows if:

  • You would like to know how to configure a remote connection to a UNIX server using either Cygwin or X-Win32
