WebDAV at UT Arlington
Available To:
- Departments and Offices at UT Arlington
- Faculty (currently appointed) and Staff
Description:
This page will provide you an overview of WebDAV as well as links to setup instructions.
How to Get:
The www.uta.edu server supports a protocol named DAV, also known in Windows as "Web Folders" or "My Network Places". The DAV protocol provides direct access to add, move, or delete Web files and folders. More information about DAV and DAV software can be found at http://www.webdav.org/
Users who would like to edit their websites using PC computers on-campus can use Web Folders or My Network Places. As an alternative, users can publish using a free utility called DAVExplorer. It requires that JDK be installed on the computer. Instructions and download files are available at http://www.ics.uci.edu/~webdav/ This utility is not supported by UTA.
It's important to know the difference between your publishing and viewing URL. If your page is located at http://www.uta.edu/<website_name>, your publishing URL would be https://dav.uta.edu/www.uta.edu/<website_name>/.
For example:
The UT Arlington student chapter of the Marketing Research Graduate Student Association is viewable online at:
http://www.uta.edu/student_orgs/mrgsa/.
That means the website name is /studentorgs/mrgsa/. Knowing this information we can see the publishing URL would be https://dav.uta.edu/www.uta.edu/studentorgs/mrgsa/ (note the s at the end of http).
It is mandatory that your website name end with a forward slash ( / ).
