Information and Services for Faculty and Staff

Computer Store

Apple and Dell department purchases need to be routed through Procurement Services. If you use a computer at UT Arlington, you are allowed by the Microsoft CA to install the same software on your home computer. The software may be purchased at the Computer Store.

E-Mail

Enterprise e-mail is provided to all UT Arlington faculty and staff upon activation of their NetID.  The service is provided by the Microsoft Exchange E-mail server.  The officially supported means to access UT ARLINGTON  e-mail is with either the Microsoft Outlook e-mail client on the Windows platform, Microsoft Entourage on the MacOS platform, or via the Microsoft Exchange Web interface with a compliant Web browser.

HPC

High Performance Computing is intended for use by UTA faculty, along with their staff and students, pursuing serious programs of research and specialized teaching.

Identity Finder

Identity Finder is a tool that helps fight identity theft by assisting the user in locating personally identifiable information like social security numbers, credit cards, bank accounts and passwords in files, emails, web browser data, and system areas.

J:Drive

Every faculty/staff member is allocated 200 Mb of network storage space, commonly referred to as J: drive. The files in this storage space are backed up on a nightly basis. J: drive is mapped to the user account automatically and shows up under My Computer when logging on the computers on the UTA domain.

Mav Space

MavSpace is a web based storage space for students, faculty, and staff.  You can access files saved on MavSpace from any location as long as you have an Internet connection and a web browser.

NetID

UT Arlington provides a computer account referred to as a "NetID." The NetID gives you access to UT Arlington computing resources. Faculty & Staff with current appointments must have someone from the employing department submit the NetID account request form on-line at http://www.uta.edu/netidrequest/.

Statistical Expert Support

The mission of Statistical Services is to help faculty, staff, and students with those aspects of their research that involve the use of statistics and statistical computing.

Test Form Scanning

Scanning and evaluations will be dropped off and picked up in the OIT main office, B51 Davis Hall, where the Production Control office staff will assist you. The actual scanning of forms will take place at Arlington Regional Data Center (ARDC), formerly known as UTACC, in Fort Worth.

Student Organizations

OIT actively supports Student Organizations with services such as Printing in OIT Computing Facilities, Mailing Lists, Official Web Pages, Maverick Wikis, Maverick Blogs, and Training and Documentation.

Training

OIT's Training and Documentation Services team is ready to provide training and orientations to meet the needs of UTA students, faculty, and staff. Every semester we offer free computer classes covering topics such as MyMav, MavSpace, MavMail, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher, Student Web pages, NetID and others.

Unix for Teaching/Research

WebCT

WebCT is a web-based e-learning environment. In this virtual classroom professors can post lectures, class notes, assignments, grades, online quizzes and more. It facilitates communication between faculty and students via integrated email, chat and bulletin boards.

Web Space

Class- and research-related websites, as well as student organization and UT Arlington administration pages, are considered official. To request an official web space, please go to the Web Space Request form.
