The University of Texas at Arlington is expanding protections for faculty, staff, and student accounts using multi-factor authentication.
This service provides an additional method of verification to reduce the risk of criminals gaining access through phishing schemes designed to steal data and personal information.
As of January 9th 2020, all faculty, staff and students are required to us Microsoft MFA for accessing O365 and MyMav off campus.
What is Multi-Factor Authentication?
Multi-factor authentication requires two forms of verification to confirm your identity when you are off campus only:
- Your login, as normal
- Mobile app, phone call, or text
Why Multi-Factor Authentication?
Multi-Factor Authentication helps keep your information secure by providing:
- Critical protection for your login credentials
- Reduced risk of unauthorized access to your personal information
- Decreased likelihood of phishing and malware attacks
The University is taking steps to safeguard personal and institutional data by applying a multi-factor authentication to critical systems.
Stronger authentication methods are needed to reduce the risk of a compromise, especially with high value systems such as those that process or store sensitive and restricted information.
