Program Overview
Purpose of the program
The purpose of the EIR Accessibility Program is to ensure that all digital resources and digital communications at UTA are accessible to everyone, including students, faculty, staff, clients, and visitors with disabilities.
Background information
Currently, UTA's digital accessibility efforts face several challenges, including inconsistent compliance across digital resources and communications, significant risks due to non-compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0/2.1) Level AA standards, and limitations in awareness and execution of existing accessibility tools.
When our websites, mobile apps and digital resources are not accessible, they create a barrier for people with disabilities. For example, individuals who are blind may use a screen reader to gather information from a website. If an image that provides information does not include alt text (text describing the image), those individuals have no way of receiving that information.
