Project Overview
Microsoft Azure is an expansive platform that includes Logic Apps & Azure Automation, two cloud-based services that allow OIT to utilize workflows and process automation for various management tasks. Transitioning jobs from BMC Control-M to Azure Automation & Logic Apps will enable OIT to leverage our existing strategic partnerships, reduce the overall portfolio, expand our cloud-first strategy, and provide greater self-service capabilities for our end users.
Benefits:
- No expensive customization is needed to work with UTA applications. Azure’s orchestration connects to current applications and services, avoiding expensive customizations for a full-service experience.
- Support team expansion. The Identity and Automation Operations Team will add Production Control Operations (PCO) through an organizational restructure, expanding the support team from two staff members to a total of nine and increasing the number of available support resources.
- No additional licensing cost. Azure is included in the University’s Microsoft operating tenant. With no additional licensing costs, no expensive customizations, and process automation, Azure reduces overall operational costs while boosting efficiency.
- Unlimited daily job orchestration. Azure provides an unlimited quantity of jobs that can be scheduled daily.
- Self-service capabilities. Users can utilize a self-service feature for increased visibility into specific job statuses.
