Why is UTA migrating from Jamf to Microsoft Intune? UTA will not renew its Jamf license in FY2026 due to cost considerations. Microsoft Intune provides equivalent device management capabilities and is already included under an existing license.
Which devices are impacted? All Apple computers, iPads, and iPhones must be migrated unless identified as end-of-life devices. For retired and end-of-life devices, please submit a ticket for a new device using the following link for a new replacement: https://go.uta.edu/endpointrequest
I'd like my device migrated from Jamf to Microsoft Intune now. What do I do? To migrate your device, submit a ticket indicating that you would like to upgrade your operating system, and technical support staff will contact you.
Who will perform the device migrations? OIT operation teams and Distributed Support Associates (DSAs) around campus will execute migrations using standardized deployment instructions.
Will devices need to be erased? Some devices will need to be erased and reimaged. Please work with the Distributed Support Associate (DSA) for your department on reimaging. To view who your DSA is, visit our KB article.
What happens if the migration cannot be completed by August 21, 2026? Devices that do not complete migration by August 21, 2026 will receive a pop-up warning to connect with their Distributed Support Associate (DSA) or submit a Service Desk ticket. These devices can be removed from the UTA network at any time.
