Project Details
This project will transition all Apple device management systems at UTA from Jamf to Microsoft Intune before the Jamf license expires on August 21, 2026 to reduce licensing costs, consolidate endpoint management platforms, and maintain secure and compliant management of Apple devices. After the Jamf license expires, any devices running on Jamf will be vulnerable and risk being removed from the network at any time.
What to expect:
If you use a University-provided Apple device, including laptops, iPads and iPhones, you will be contacted by technical support staff to schedule a time to transition your device from Jamf to Microsoft Intune.
- The migration can take up to 1.5 hours, depending on hardware and internet speed.
- Your device must be updated to the most recent available version before the migration. Devices should be on software version 26.
- To ensure the upgrade goes smoothly, back up your important files and apps to OneDrive. Learn more about file storage on the Knowledge Services website.
- After the migration is complete, all functionality on the device will remain the same.
I'd like my device migrated from Jamf to Microsoft Intune now. What do I do?
If you would like to schedule a time to upgrade your device, please submit a ticket indicating that you would like to upgrade your operating system, and technical support staff will contact you.
In some cases, devices are unable to be migrated and will need to be replaced. If technical support staff informs you of the need to replace your device, please discuss with your department management and submit a request using the following link: https://go.uta.edu/endpointrequest
If you have any further questions about the project, contact IntuneMigration@UTA.edu.
