Overview

As part of UTA’s transition to a wireless-first infrastructure, the Office of Information Technology is advancing a comprehensive effort to enhance network performance, security, and access management. This initiative includes implementing network access controls to provide integrated protection across both wired and wireless environments.

Key objectives include improving the client experience, strengthening user and device identification, reducing SSID pollution, and properly isolating devices and users so they can access only what is necessary.

The initiative will be executed in three phases:

  • Phase 1: Deployment of updated wireless SSIDs and authentication methods
  • Phase 2: Expansion of capabilities to the wired network
  • Phase 3: Advanced network segmentation to support a stronger security posture

Microsoft Intune-based device compliance checks will be embedded throughout all phases to reinforce security and governance.
